Back to school …. And back to a routine for a lot, I suspect?

This suitcase belonged to my Mum ( 82) she used it when she was 17 , I love it and keep all sorts of little treasures in it in our house.

My mum Joan regularly wanders in to the shop at random times with her lovely smile and gives me little tips and bits of information, she is unimaginably clued up with whats going on in the world for her age. She is my rock and shining light. She always asks if she can run a little errand for me…. Aww.

At Homewood Bound we always welcome Grandmas and Grandads and value their feedback… they love our vintage stuff and often reminisce about past times….

We have had a lot of special visitors this week (all our customers are special) in the shop………

We did the photoshoot on Tuesday, which was a great success, the weather was against us, but we soldiered on regardless.

Did I show you this picture of Cath Kidston’s dog Stanley? We went to the head office in London  about 4 months ago to choose our collection and we saw Stanley casually walking around the office, apparently the Japanese buyers bring him gifts (little outfits) and he shakes with excitement when he has cake after having a picture taken! We were there at the same time as the John Lewis buyers….

Thank you to Elizabeth Musgrove from Cantata who called to see us this week, her help and advice was invaluable to us…. Lovely to see you Elizabeth! x

Finally, we had a few hours off work to reflect, myself, John and Beth took the dogs up the mountain (the mountain that can be seen from the shop). It is breathtakingly beautiful up there, quiet, air so clean and fresh…..

The workshop has been a hive of activity this week….

We have been preparing furniture which is going to France, another one of our gorgeous Bespoke Kitchens is ready to be lovingly installed and we have been involved with a ‘mini makeover’ of a local restaurant…. As well as all the other things going on here too.

Holiday time is now in full flow for most people …..

but if you are working or haven’t had the opportunity to have a break, there is still time for some fun, outdoor living, picnics, walks and barbeques, etc….

This week has been a blur…. We have been a little overwhelmed with the amount of activity and things going on with the business (particularly behind the scenes). The team are beavering away (as ever) and John and I have been working most nights until ten ish just to catch up!

So rather than abandon the blog this week I have resorted to taking this motto quite literally!

First we must tell you that our Cath Kidston Sale starts on Tuesday 10^th August !!

The eagerly awaited ‘Blue toast’ and ‘Green toast’  Bridgewater designs have finally arrived.. phew. See for yourself how good they look!!

On Monday we were in Stoke, attending the Emma Bridgewater Stockists open day.

We thoroughly enjoyed the 25 years anniversary celebrations.We had a tour of the factory and saw the new café/kitchen/family room extension.

Take a look at this wonderful ‘AGA’.We had a preview of the new Bridgewater products and were given a copy of the new Autumn/Christmas Catalogue.The new ‘blue toast’ range is  now available, we have some on order, coming very soon..It was lovely to have a chat with Emma herself, she is amazing and has lots of new things in the pipeline…

To finish off the day, we hopped on the ‘polka dot ‘ bus and drove 5 mins up the road to the pottery museum to see Emma’s pottery display.Tuesday we were at our lovely wholesalers choosing new stock.

We were treated to a lavish evenings entertainment with the outstanding ‘bootleg beatles’ and you will never guess who was there too? Non other than Linda Barker! That really made my day!

Finally on Wednesday we visited the Harrogate Home & Interiors Trade Show trying hard to find some great new suppliers….

Celebrating Ten Years Of Service

Julie O’Hara has been working at Homewood Bound for TEN YEARS! We had a special moment this week with cakes and candles to reflect on the last ten years since Julie joined the team.

John and I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Julie for her loyalty, hard work, commitment and happy “team spirit”. Well done Julie and once again a BIG THANK YOU!
